Visiting Japan

"My son, Philip, worked for a company in Japan. So our family and friends had a tour guide when we visited Tokyo. Unfortunately, it was still very difficult for us to get around. Back in 1987, Japan was not tourist-friendly. Still, Japan is very beautiful."

"I am here with my friend behind me."

A Very Spoiled Life

"I lived a very spoiled life in Tehran. We didn't even do our own shopping. We had lavish parties. The women wore mink. When I came to America, I turned my mink coats into linings for my rain coats. You can't go to Times Square in mink coats.

"But if I had to choose now, I wouldn't want to go back to that time. The custom was strict, women were treated differently. If I had to describe it, despite the lavishness and wealth, there wasn't the feeling of independence for me. Men were first priority and wives had little freedom.

"It was its own culture is all. Now is a different time to be lived."

Lunch at Artie's

Catherine came to visit and we are having lunch at Artie's on Broadway and 83rd. Except Catherine is amazed with the free  coleslaw appetizer and may not have room for her omelette.

My Younger Sister

As children, I would spend my allowance very quickly early in the week while Amal was very good at saving. So I would keep borrowing from Amal in the middle of the week and when the next week came, half of my allowance would immediately go to her. So I would borrow again!

Frank's Visit

My nephew from London visited me this afternoon. He is married now with the boys and a girl not unlike Shirley Temple. She is so cute! Here is a photo of Frank as a baby.

The Carpet

In my living room, we had those wonderful curtains. We were only able to send the carpet to America. It's now in in my living room :)
